Orangutan - Gladys Porter Zoo by policegirl01 Orangutan - Gladys Porter Zoo by policegirl01
While on vacation, I got a chance to visit the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville for the first time in at least 10 years.  It was every bit as beautiful as I remembered & my daughter really enjoyed it.

Hands down the best part was seeing the orangutans.  There were two out, a parent and baby.  The parent, pictured above, was teaching the baby how to poke sticks into the drainage tubes to poke at people standing on the other side of the glass.  Once they had our attention, the parent pointed directly at anyone holding any sort of drink & then blew air into he hole until someone poured the drink down there.  If you didn't, you got jabbed & grunted at.  They were having fun scaring people and getting them to laugh.
